IMG_1383Here comes the first day of the real fight – 205 km special stage. After yesterday’s problems the team leader Boris Gadasin had one task – to fight back for the 26 minutes of delay. Gadasin/ Demianchenko won at the SS2 and shifted up from the 29th to the 3rd place.

IMG_1372It should be noted that it is not so easy as it used to be at the Astrakhan steppes. The first crews had many difficulties orienteering by their road maps, often looking for the right route which the crews behind could then use. However, Gadasin was so fast, even searching for the right road didn't stop him from leading. "I came to follow rally raids again and understood the logics of the Astrakhan roads", said after finish Vladimir Demianchenko, who was the first-timer in the Khazar Steppes.

IMG_1430Bogdan Novitsky’s crew was unfortunate when a throttle cable was broken 20 meters after the start. Having spent 20 minutes to repair it the crew didn’t list their spirits and set out to win their time back. They proved their yesterday’s victory was no coincidence. Even such time delay brought them third place at the special stage and second place overall. “Tomorrow we will fight for the victory”.

Alexander Oleinokov was the star of production group, having finished 1st in his group with overall 4th place. Our crews of Andrey Cherednikov and Voktor Volikov take 4th and 5thplace correspondingly. According to Andrey, “The stage is very rough for the standard car”. And Viktor had to slow down and literally back out and drive just to finish because of the technical problem in the second half of the stage. This is unfortunate as at CP2 he was in second position. “Our goal is to have such results at the rally that our position in the Championship is maintained. We will drive fast but careful tomorrow.”

In truck group everything is still the same, Eduard Nikolaev has the best time with 6th overall place. In national classification occurred understandable changes - the UAZ crews of Evgeby Bataev and Bogdan Vareniuk came forward.
